Prisma Denisse Peralta Reyes, a 26-year-old mother from Texas, has been reported missing after failing to pick up her son from the babysitter on Wednesday, April 17. According to ABC News, friends and family reported Reyes missing when she never showed up and failed to answer her phone.
Reyes’ 2017 Jeep Wrangler was found abandoned by the Mesquite Police Department on Thursday, April 18.
The woman was last seen wearing a red polo shirt, blue jeans, according to surveillance footage of her last-known whereabouts that was released by ABC affiliate WFAA. Reyes is described as approximately 5-foot-2 and weighs 135 pounds.
In the video, Reyes appears to be in distress and disoriented.
She was outside of an apartment complex building where her vehicle was ultimately found.
“It is unusual for anyone I think to abandon a vehicle, but really to not pick up their child when they’re supposed to?’ I think that’s probably our biggest concern is why she didn’t pick her child up and is she safe? The hope is with the video someone sees her clothing, sees her mannerisms. maybe they recognize her,” Mesquite Police Department Lieutenant Stephen Biggs said in a statement, via the Daily Mail.
“Maybe they remember seeing her somewhere, and they’ll reach out to us and identify the location of her whereabouts.”
While Reyes is missing, the Mesquite Police say her relatives are looking after her child.
Reyes, who is originally from Veracruz, Mexico, recently became a United States citizen. She is currently working as a paralegal and was formerly a member of the National Guard.
Police are asking anyone who may be able to provide information on Reyes’ whereabouts to call the Mesquite Police Department at (972) 285-6336.
Our thoughts are with Reyes’ family and friends during this difficult time and we hope that she is found and returned home safely.
