Alexander Kraus has been identified as the 17-year-old Wisconsin teenager who was arrested and charged after he allegedly murdered an elderly Grand Chute couple.
According to the Grand Chute police department, Kraus, a 17-year-old junior at Neenah High School, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly killing two unidentified Grand Chute residents.
Police say that Kraus knew both of his murder victims, who were found dead at their home around 11:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, April 14. Officers arrested Kraus — who admitted to shooting and killing the two victims — at the scene of the crime.
Following his arrest, Kraus was taken to the Outagamie County Jail, where he was held on two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
The names of the victims will be released following family notification. Officer Travis Waas said that police believe a “long gun” was used in the murders.
At the time of this writing, police have yet to announce a motive for Kraus’ murders.
The Neenah School District released a statement on Monday, April 14, indicating that there was no reason to believe any Neenah High School students or staff are in danger at this time.
“Grand Chute police informed the Neenah Joint School District that the student arrested on two counts of first degree intentional homicide on Sunday also had a plan to cause harm at Neenah High School. Police have indicated that there is no danger to students and staff at the high school and the school day on Monday will proceed as normal,” the district’s statement reads.
“Additional counselors are available to students and there is an extra police presence as an additional precaution. We are appreciative of the work of our local law enforcement and this is another reminder for all of us to remain vigilant in keeping each other safe,” the district’s official statement concluded.
