The Robert Mueller Report is finally set to be released by the public. According to the Justice Department, the report will be released on Thursday, April 18. Of course, the publicly released report will include plenty of redactions regarding other ongoing investigations.
The report is “nearly 400 pages, ‘exclusive of tables and appendices,'” according to Attorney General William Barr.
While the document may be redacted, the House Judiciary Committee is still expected to subpoena the redacted information, according to the Washington Post.
The House Judiciary Committee is poised to issue a subpoena for the report’s redacted portions.
Barr has spent weeks redacting sensitive information from the report in preparation for its public release. Barr is shielding four specific categories of information: grand jury material, details whose public release could harm ongoing investigations, any information that would “potentially compromise sources and methods” in intelligence collection, and anything that would “unduly infringe on the personal privacy and reputational interests of peripheral third parties.”
Axios provided further details on what information could be redacted from the report:
- Material subject to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure (6e) that cannot be made public.
- Material the intelligence community identifies as potentially compromising sensitive sources and methods.
- Material that could affect other ongoing matters, including those that the special counsel has referred to other Department offices.
- Information that would unduly infringe on the personal privacy and reputational interests of peripheral third parties.
