During his set on opening weekend of Coachella, rapper YG announced a new upcoming song and his latest project. YG was initially set to drop his new album in April, but decided to delay the release following the death of his friend and “FDT” collaborator Nipsey Hussle. Now, YG’s new album will drop in May.
That didn’t stop him from teasing the new music, however.
YG announced that a new track “Stop Snitching” was on the way and he did so in a way that threw some serious shade at incarcerated rapper and rival Tekashi 6ix9ine.
The announcement came in front of a mugshot of 6ix9ine, who is in federal custody on RICO charges.
YG also explained his reason to delay his album.
“So, I had an album coming out April 12th, it was supposed to come out on Friday but I got some f*cked up news that my n***a had passed on me and sh*t,” YG said, as transcribed by Complex.com.
“So it’s like, I ain’t even know how to motherf*ckin’ walk and talk. I couldn’t get out the bed. I was in the bed every day until 4 p.m. My life was f*cked up, my sh*t’s still f*cked up. The only reason I’m up here is because I’ve been drinking a whole lot of motherf*ckin’ tequila. But my n***a gone, I gotta deal with this sh*t, so I decided to push my album back to May 3, godd*mnit.”
YG has not released a new album since his 2018 project Stay Dangerous.

Weekend 2 of Coachella will take place from Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21 with Childish Gambino returning to the stage on April 19. The festival will come to an end with a special Sunday Service performance from Kanye West. The final Sunday will also feature performances from Pusha T, Bad Bunny, Khalid, and Ariana Grande on the main stage.
