Lauren Mueller has been in the UFC for one year. After earning a UFC contract with her impressive win over Kelly McGill-Velasco on season 1 of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Mueller has had two official appearances inside of the Octagon.
In her first fight against Shana Dobson, the “Princess Tiger” — the first woman to be signed to the UFC from DWTNCS — picked up a victory. She suffered a loss to Yanan Wu in her sophomore appearance and returns to action on Saturday, April 13 against Poliana Botelho at UFC 236. Her UFC debut was on April 14, 2018.
Mueller hopes to bounce back from her first career loss and knows that it was a valuable learning lesson.
“I told my coach performing in that fight that I did not feel like me. I felt like I was in a fog. Even though my body was going through the motions, it was like my eyes were closed. It was really weird,” she said ahead of UFC 236, via UFC.com.
“So I walked away from that loss like “this wasn’t a loss, this was a lesson.” This was a learning lesson. And there’s so many factors going into it that I have grown exponentially from.”
