The Colorado Mesa lacrosse team was playing on another level in a recent game against the Johnson & Wales Wildcats. Colorado Mesa was clearly the better side in the game which led to the Mavericks blowing away one NCAA record and breaking another in one of the most wildly lopsided box scores you will ever see.
Colorado Mesa set the NCAA Division-II record for goals in a lacrosse game and the overall NCAA record for combined goals in a game.
The previous record for goals in a Division-II game was 33, while the overall NCAA record was 40.
Well, those records stood no chance thanks to Colorado Mesa’s lax team going into Super Saiyan mode and shellacking Johnson & Wales by a score of 52-0. Yep, you red that correctly. The Mavericks trounced the Wildcats, 52-0. I guess it’s easy to understand why Johnson & Wales sits at a lousy 1-9 on the season.
Colorado Mesa scored 14 goals in the first period, 15 in the second, 15 in the third, and 8 in the fourth. Jason Kauo led the way for the Mavericks with 6 goals, while two players scored five, and three players netted four. A total of 21 players scored for Colorado Mesa.

CMU also held a 53–3 advantage on faceoffs and picked up 74 groundballs (loose balls) to JWU’s nine. CMU forced 24 turnovers only turned it over eight times. On the rare occasions that a CMU possession did not end in a goal, JWU only successfully cleared the ball out of its end six out of 17 times.
The craziest part about everything? The game was called early after Colorado Mesa’s Harrison Evans was injured and transported to the local hospital in a neck brace, according to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.
