Angel Felix Rodriguez has been identified as the 23-year-old New York City man who turned himself into police and admitted to killing his 21-year-old girlfriend Indira Ramirez-Rivera.
According to the New York City Police Department, Rodriguez walked into the NYPD’s 48th Precinct station house around 6 p.m. local time on Wednesday, April 10, and admitted to murdering the 21-year-old Indira Ramirez-Rivera on Monday, April 8.
As he turned himself into the New York City Police Department, Rodriguez gave investigating officers the keys to his Nelson Avenue basement apartment in the Bronx.
Police then went to the residence, which he shared with Indira Ramirez-Rivera, and found her lifeless body in one of the apartment’s bedrooms.
Investigators say that Ramirez-Rivera suffered trauma to her neck, indicating that she was strangled. At this time, an autopsy is currently being conducted by a medical examiner to determine Rodriguez’s specific cause of death.
Following his shocking admission, Rodriguez was officially charged with murder and manslaughter.
At this time, the New York City Police Department is still working to determine a motive for the murder.
Speaking to the New York Daily News, Andy Rodriguez — a friend of Ramirez-Rivera’s before her passing — said she wanted to “leave” Rodriguez.
“She was at my friend’s house on Friday. She wanted to go back to her apartment and pack her stuff and leave him. I didn’t expect him to do anything like this,” Rodriguez said to the New York Daily News.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends, family, and various loved ones of Indira Ramirez-Rivera during this extremely difficult time.
