After being drafted into the league back in 2003 and going on to becoming one of the greatest shooting guards in the history of the NBA, 3-time NBA Champion Dwayne Wade has officially played his last career game and he SHOWED OUT.
Putting on the Miami jersey for one last time, Wade went out and nabbed 25 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds in a 113-94 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The triple-double was just the fifth of Wade’s career and his first such stat line since 2011/
Wade’s best friends — LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul — were all in attendance at the Barclay’s Center to honor their friend’s Hall of Fame career.
The Miami Heat just missed the playoffs in Wade’s final season, missing out on the eighth seed, which was ultimately occupied by the Detroit Pistons, by just two games.
During his illustrious 16-year NBA career, Wade — who was drafted with the #5 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft — won three NBA Championships, all with the Miami Heat.
The first NBA title — which was the first for the Miami Heat franchise — came with Shaquille O’Neal by his side back in 2006 and the second and third titles came with the “Big 3” of Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh back in 2012 and 2013.
While Wade had brief, ill-advised stints with both the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers, he will largely be remembered for his time on South Beach, where he became one of the greatest shooting guards to ever lace em’ up.
