Sophie Cunningham, a star guard for the Missouri women’s basketball team, is set to learn where she will begin her professional career on Wednesday, April 10, at the 2019 WNBA Draft in New York City. Cunningham is expected to be an early pick and should not have to wait long to hear her name called.
Throughout her career, the 6-foot-1 guard from Columbia, Missouri has racked up a number of awards including AP All-American honorable mentions, SEC Freshman of the Year, and First-Team All-SEC honors on multiple occasions.
Prior to her time at Missouri, Cunningham was a McDonald’s All-American and the No. 14 ranked player in the nation.
Her older sister Lindsey also played basketball at the University of Missouri along with a long list of other family members like her mother (track and field), father (football), aunt (basketball), uncle (football) and grandfather (football)
And don’t let the pretty face fool you, because Cunningham could open an old-fashioned can of whoop ass at any time after earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at six years old.
