Big Baller Brand patriarch LaVar Ball is back on his bullsh*t. In his latest quest to grab the headlines, LaVar was once again promoting his middle son LiAngelo, who went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. Since then, Gelo has been playing overseas and in his dad’s JBA league.
But despite the fact that LiAngelo hasn’t received any NBA offers, LaVar is making some over the top claims per usual in an attempt to get some more attention.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, LaVar claimed that undrafted Gelo is a better basketball player than Duke basketball star Zion Williamson, who is the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
“He ain’t no big Baller. He’s a Williamson,” LaVar said. “Williamsons ain’t stronger than Ballers!
“Biggest and the strongest 2-guard in the NBA right now. Ain’t nobody built like [LiAngelo] at the 2-guard. Nobody. 6-6, 240, can shoot the 3, post you up — kill you. But, you going to see. You going to see. I guarantee he’ll be in the summer league, and guarantee he’ll have an NBA contract this year. How’s that?!”
It’s good to be ambitious, but it is even more important to be realistic. Unfortunately for LaVar, his latest claims may be some of his most outrageous to date — outside of saying he would beat Michael Jordan in a one-on-one game. Then again, maybe LaVar is just puffing out his chest and making outrageous statements in an effort to distract himself from the inevitable fate facing Big Baller Brand after Lonzo Ball parted way with the brand and sued co-founder Alan Foster for allegedly mismanaging the finances.
