Kofi Kingston had the ultimate Wrestlemania moment on Sunday, April 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kingston was facing off against WWE Champion Daniel Bryan when he did the unthinkable.
After a back-and-forth fight that saw both men nearly earning pinfalls, it was Kofi Kingston who came out on top with the three-count.
And just like that, Kofi was part of one of the most unforgettable Wrestlemania moments as the crowd at MetLife Stadium roared and jumped to their feet.
Kofi Kingston has had his fair share of highlights in WWE in the past, but they would usually come from wild spots at Royal Rumbles and Battle Royale matches.
However, he now has the ultimate prize and an incredible Wrestlemania moment to add to his trophy case.
Kingston, who was in his first career one-on-one WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania 35, is also a four-time Intercontinental Champion, three-time United States Champion, and eighth-time world tag team champion. He is the first African-born world champion in WWE history.
For the first time in WrestleMania history, the event will be headlined by a women’s match — a winner takes all triple threat match between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch for both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
The WWE Universal Championship, WWE Championship, SmackDown & Raw Tag Team Championships, Women’s Tag Team Championship, United States Championship, and Intercontinental Championship were also all on the line.
