Lloyd, the 36-year-old midfielder from Delran Township, New Jersey, has won a FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015, two Olympic Gold Medals, and two FIFA Player of the Year Awards during the course of her illustrious professional career. Prior to being a professional, Lloyd played college soccer at Rutgers University in her home state of New Jersey.
Despite now creeping into her mid-to-late thirties, Lloyd figures to be an integral part of the 2019 Women’s World Cup squad both on and off the pitch in France.
The United States Women’s National Team, who have already won the tournament three times, are looking to win the World Cup title for a record-breaking fourth time in France this summer. The USWNT opens the World Cup in a group with Thailand, Chile, and Sweden.
It will be no easy feat, though, as many consider the 2019 Women’s World Cup to be the most wide open in the tournament’s history, as there are a handful of talented teams that believe they have a realistic opportunity to lift this year’s World Cup trophy.
