The Weeknd will be part of the final season of Game of Thrones and it comes in the form of a powerful collaboration. Rumors have been swirling, but it has now been confirmed in a report from Pitchfork that The Weeknd has joined forces with SZA and Travis Scott to record a new song for the HBO hit series.
Game of Thrones reportedly approached The Weeknd about recording a song for the eighth season and he then added SZA and Travis Scott to the mix.
And with the premiere of the final season just one week away, the track is expected to drop soon.
Very few details about the track have been released, but it is believed that we may have already caught a glimpse of what the new project could sound like. Fans with a fine-tuned ear picked up on the background track to a video featuring Game of Thrones actors and actresses from the New York City premiere.
While actors are posing for the cameras, a track with all of the sounds of a Weeknd track is vamping in the background.
Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at 9:00 p.m. ET. You can watch every episode on HBO, HBO Go, and HBO Now. After waiting nearly two years for the final season of the most popular show on television, fans now have a taste of what to expect in the final episodes including the epic, episode-long battle that is expected to be the “longest consecutive action sequence in cinema history,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
And if we are to believe an early review from John Thompson of GQ, the season premiere may be the best the series has ever offered and one of the most humorous Game of Thrones episodes to air.
