Police in Arkansas was forced to arrested two, uh, idea-deficient men after they reportedly put on bulletproof vests and took turns shooting each other.
According to a report 5 News KFSM, 50-year-old Charles Ferris 36-year-old and Christopher Hicks from Rogers, Arkansas, were arrested by police for reportedly taking turns shooting at each other while wearing a bulletproof vest.
On Monday, April 1, both Ferris and Hicks were charged with aggravated assault for their dangerous little game, which they were reportedly doing while drunk.
According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Ferris put on a bulletproof vest and asked Hicks to shoot him in the chest with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle on Sunday, March 31.
Hicks shot Ferris as requested, but Ferris then became “pissed” after getting hurt from being shot, so he “unloaded the clip into Christopher’s back,” according to the arrest affidavit.
While none of the gunshots penetrated the vest, Hicks was taken to nearby Mercy Hospital for bruising.
After Ferris and Hicks tried to concoct a convoluted story to sell to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office to explain the wounds, Ferris’ wife would reveal the truth when she arrived at Mercy Hospital, telling police that both men were simply shooting at each other “while drinking on the back porch.”
In Arkansas, aggravated assault is a Class D felony, which means both Ferris and Hicks face up to six years in prison for their alleged crime. Both men were released on $5000 bonds.
While Hicks is expected to recover from his physical injuries from the shooting, as famed mid-2000s comedian Ron White said, “you can’t fix stupid”, so, unfortunately, both Ferris and Hicks may find themselves in an unfortunate circumstance like this once again.
