Avicii’s family has announced that the late-EDM artist and one of the most popular DJ’s of all-time will be releasing a posthumous album, Tim. The album will be released on June 6, with the lead single “SOS” dropping on Wednesday, April 10. All proceeds from the album will go to the Tim Bergling Foundation.
The nonprofit organization was started following Avicii’s untimely death to raise money for suicide prevention and organizations dedicated to fighting mental illness.
Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, passed away in Muscat, Oman at the age of 28-years-old due to an apparent suicide. Avicii was perhaps best known for his hit singles “Levels”, released in 2011, and “Wake Me Up” with Aloe Blacc, which was released in 2013. He released two studio albums — 2013’s “True” and 2015’s “Stories” — before announcing in 2016 that he would be retiring from touring.
In the past, Avicii had suffered from very public health problems, including acute pancreatitis, which was in part due to his excessive drinking. After having his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014, he canceled a series of shows in an attempt to recover.
