Police believe that they’ve found the body of Jeanine Cammarata, a 37-year-old Staten Island woman who went missing on Saturday, March 30, just 48 hours after telling her husband Michael Cammarata that she wanted a divorce.
Cammarata, a 37-year-old public school teacher and mother-of-three, was reported missing on Monday, April 1.
According to the New York City Police Department, officers are currently working to make a positive identification on the body that was found at a storage facility on Arden Ave in East Rockaway on Thursday, April 4.
The NYPD said that they are in possession of security camera footage that shows her estranged husband Michael Cammarata carrying a “large bag” as he left his Rockaway apartment before later arriving at the storage facility where the body was found, according to the New York Daily News.
However, police have yet to officially confirm that the body they found is Cammarata’s.
“The NYPD early Thursday discovered remains on Staten Island and is working now to make a positive identification. A connection to the missing teacher has not been verified,” a spokesperson for the New York Police Department said in a statement.
While Jeanine’s husband Michael Cammarata was charged with assault, harassment and stalking on Tuesday, April 2, in connection to a domestic incident between the two, he has not been charged in connection to her disappearance, according to NBC News.
Cammarata allegedly staked and assaulted the 37-year-old elementary school teacher on multiple occasions.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeanine Cammarata’s friends, family, and various loved ones during this extremely difficult time.
