Cedric ‘Spider-Man’ Marks, a 44-year-old professional mixed martial arts fighter in Texas, has been indicted on capital murder charges alongside his girlfriend Maya Maxwell in Texas after the pair allegedly killed Marks’ ex-girlfriend and her male friend.
In a statement, Bell County District Attorney Henry Garza said that both Marks, 44-years-old, and his 26-year-old girlfriend Maya Maxwell has been charged with capital murder and tampering with evidence after the bodies of 28-year-old Jenna Scot and 32-year-old Michael Swearingin was found in a shallow grave in Oklahoma on Tuesday, January 15.
According to the autopsy reports released by the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday, April 3, Swearingin’s death was ruled homicide by strangling.
Additionally, while Scott’s autopsy is still underway at the time of this writing, the medical examiner determined that she died from “homicidal violence.”
Marks had previously escaped from police custody on Friday, March 29, after he fled from a prison van that had stopped at a McDonald’s while en route from Michigan to Texas.
However, Marks was recaptured approximately nine hours later and subsequently taken to the Bell County jail.
“I hope that the DA is planning on pursuing the death penalty, that’s pretty much what’s on my mind right now,” Jonathan Scott, the father of Jenna Scott, said to KXAN-TV.
During his MMA career, the 44-year-old middleweight has a lifetime professional record of 31-27.
Marks, who has lost six straight fights, hasn’t competed in professional MMA since March of 2018.
Marks has denied any involvement in the murders of Swearingin and Scott, whose bodies were found buried in Clearview, Oklahoma on January 15.
