Police believe that the 14-year-old boy who has been found after being abducted seven years ago is Aurora, Illinois native Timmothy Pitzen. The FBI has conducted a DNA test to identify the teen.

According to initial reports from the Sharonville and Blue Ash police, the 14-year-old teen told police that he was being held at a Red Roof Inn hotel somewhere in the area. However, police say the teen was unable to say which one specifically.

After his discovery, local police agencies such as the Newport police, Cincinnati police, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Aurora, Illinois police began working together to determine whether Pitzen was really who he claimed to be.

Pitzen was last seen in Aurora, Illinois, on Thursday, May 12, 2011, when he was picked up from school by his mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen.

Reports at the time indicated that Fry-Pitzen took her son on a three-day trip to various amusement parks prior to being found dead by suicide in a Rockford, Illinois motel room. A suicide note found near Fry-Pitzen’s body said that while Timmothy was safe, he would “never be found.”

Pitzen was just six-years-old at the time of his abduction.

Police agencies in the area were subsequently ordered to search Red Roof Inns in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

Reports indicate that Pitzen’s family is currently en route to the Cincinnati area where Timmothy was found.

Pitzen’s story was just recently featured on the “Missing” segment of the TV series Live PD back on August 25, 2018.
