Conor McGregor has sunken to a new low. The controversial yet wildly popular mixed martial arts fighter and former two-division UFC champion decided to take to social media to continue his feud with current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor took to Twitter to take a shot of Nurmagomedov’s wife and traditional Muslim culture while sharing a photo from Nurmagomedov’s wedding. The tweet was quickly deleted, but as we know, once something is posted on the internet it is there forever.

In the photo, Nurmagomedov can be seen next to his wife, who is covered in a veil.

Allegations of racism are nothing new for McGregor. While he was on a world tour promoting his fight with undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, McGregor had multiple moments where he used racially insensitive language towards his opponent like “monkey” and “boy.” In the lead up to his fight with Nurmagomedov, McGregor often called the Russian a “rat” and took shots at the Muslim religion.

In fact, it was McGregor and his team’s comments about Nurmagomedov and his faith that ultimately led to a post-fight brawl. During the fight, McGregor training partner Dillon Danis reportedly called Nurmagomedov a “f**king Muslim rat.”

“This is not my best side. He talked about my religion, he talked about my country, he talked about my father,” Nurmagomedov said after the fight. “He came to Brooklyn, he broke bus, and nearly killed two people. So why do people still talk about me jumping over the cage? I have shown respect.”

With his win over McGregor, Khabib advanced to 27-0 in his professional career. His 27 consecutive wins gives him the longest winning streak in all of mixed martial arts. Khabib first won the vacant lightweight championship on April 7, 2018 at UFC 223 when he scored a dominant decision win over Al Iaquinta in Brooklyn, New York. He became the first Russian to win a UFC title. The submission victory over McGregor was his first title defense.
