Update: California police announced at 4:30 p.m. that Eric Holder, the 29-year-oldn man wanted for the shooting death of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle, was arrested in Bellflower, California, on Tuesday, April 2.
According to TMZ, Eric Holder, who goes by the alias “Shitty”, had a “tense exchange” with Nipsey Hussle prior to the shooting.
Who Is Eric Holder?
Eric Holder, 29, has been identified as the suspect who is being tracked down police for his role in the shooting death of 33-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle. A warrant has been issued for Holder’s arrest.
Hussle, born Ermias Davidson Asghedom on August 15, 1985, in Los Angeles, was killed outside of Marathon Clothing, a clothing store he owned located at 3420 W. Slauson Ave in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles around 3:20 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 31.
Following the shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department said that they were looking for a “black male in his 20s” and that they believed the shooting was gang-related.
Police say that as Hussle and two other victims were standing outside Marathon Clothing on West Slauson Blvd, Holder allegedly walked up to them and fired numerous shots before fleeing in a white 2016 Chevy Cruz, which was being driven by an unidentified female driver.
At this time, police are currently searching for Holder, whose age has not been identified.
“Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100,” the LAPD tweeted.
Authorities have asked anyone with information about Holder’s whereabouts at this time to contact LAPD South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100.
Following Hussle’s tragic and untimely death, celebrities from both the sports and entertainment world took to social media to pay tribute to the late “Victory Lap” rapper.
“Nipsey you a legend. I respect and admire your career path and what you did for the neighborhood. My heart broke today when I saw the news. I’m praying for your loved ones. This was sposed to be the year we got one in. God had bigger plans for you,” fellow rapper J. Cole tweeted.
