Kanye West is coming to Coachella and he is bringing his Sunday Service series with him. In fact, ‘Ye is set to close out the series with a special Easter Sunday Service at Coachella.
The news was shared by Kanye to a plane full of passengers and the video was shared on social media by wife Kim Kardashian-West.
Coachella confirmed the news shortly after Kanye’s announcement.
“We were out in Palm Springs and they took us to a little campground because we were thinking about a little performance in Palm Springs, just a little one,” Kanye says in the video.
“Then they had a mountain, he had a mountain waiting for us. He had a date waiting for us. Only one date that mountain would be available to us: Easter Sunday at Coachella. That confirmation was confirmed last night.”
When the Coachella 2019 lineup was officially announced, Kanye was a notable absence.
It was previously believed that he was set to perform at the festival, but Kanye’s creativity led to some production issues. Kanye reportedly wanted to perform inside of a dome in the middle of the festival grounds instead of on stage and the logistics just didn’t work out at the time, according to the Los Angeles Times.
But things seemed to have worked out because now Kanye is going to be performing at Coachella on the second weekend in what promises to be a must-see show. We’ll just have to wait and see whether ‘Ye got his wish of having a dome.
Coachella will take place over two weekends, April 12-14 and April 19-21. Headliners for this year’s festival are Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and Tame Impala.
