Bagels are a staple for breakfast. Hell, you put on the right toppings and a proper bagel can be eaten for lunch and dinner, too. But what one Twitter user decided to do to a bagel is an absolute disgrace that has enraged the internet.
Twitter user Alek Krautmann found himself getting ratioed immediately after posting a photo of two dozen bagels he took to the office for his co-workers.
Mr. Krautmann made his first mistake by picking up bagels from Panera Bread. Then, he committed perhaps the biggest crime in the history of bagels when he decided to have them “bread-sliced” instead of being cut through the center.
The end result is tiny little doughy disks that completely ruin the point of getting a bagel in the first place.
Check out this monstrosity.
A “St. Louis secret”? St. Louis is never going to be allowed to share their secrets again.
Predictably, Alek’s horrendous bagel take was immediately flamed.
“I’m from St. Louis and I’ve never seen a carb treated so callously,” one Twitter user wrote. “How dare you sir! But… since we’re both from St. Louis, I’ll ask you the St. Louis question… where’d you go to high school? Enough of these niceties… how dare you sully those bagels.”
“This is so offensive. This feels like a personal attack. I am a lifelong New Yorker and this hurts my soul,” another user added. “No, no, no, no, no. This is not okay.”
