At their latest Apple Event held on Monday, March 25, the tech giants unveiled an array of new services such as Apple Card, Apple News+, and Apple Arcade.
Apple Arcade will be a subscription service that the company says will be for mobile devices, desktops, and living room setups, meaning you will be able to play on all of your Apple devices.
According to Apple, Arcade will come with 100+ new and exclusive games, no ads or additional purchases, the ability to play across devices and offline play.
While most gaming streaming services allow used to stream games on iOS devices, Apple Arcade will be a subscription game service for games that can be installed directly from the App Store.
The games included on Apple Play will not be available on any other gaming platform or service. Additionally, classic games such as Frogger and Sonic the Hedgehog will be available on Apple Arcade.
Furthermore, Apple has stated that games from established brands such as Annapurna Interactive, Lego Bossa Studios, Klei Entertainment, Konami, Cartoon Network, Finji, Giant Squid, Mistwalker Corporation, SEGA, Snowman, ustwo games, and more are currently in development.
While Apple confirmed that Arcade will be launched this Fall, an exact release date was not given. Similarly, Apple did not delve into what the service will cost.
The announcement of Apple Arcade comes just six days after Google announced it’s own new subscription gaming service, Google Stadia.
