Anitta, born Larissa de Macedo Machado on March 30, 1993, is a Brazilian singer and dancer who is best known for her singles “Downtown” and “Machika”.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Anitta began signing when she was just 8-years-old. When she was a young girl, she took English lessons and dancing lessons.
Anitta’s career kicked off in 2013 when her debut studio, the self-titled Anitta, was released. Anitta is now certified Platinum.
The following year, Anitta released her second studio album, Ritmo Perfeito, and in 2015, she released her third studio album, Bang. All three of Anitta’s studio albums have been sung in entirely Portuguese.
While Anitta has yet to break through to the mainstream in the United States, she is plenty successful elsewhere, as she has been nominated at foreign award shows such as the Billboard Latin Music Awards, the Heat Latin Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, and the Latin Grammy Awards.
In 2019, Anitta was featured on the Sofia Reyes single “R.I.P.” alongside British pop star Rita Ora.
