Leo DiCaprio took to Instagram to drop the first look at the poster for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming ninth epic, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The caption of the poster simply reads “Hollywood. 1969.”
According to the official synopsis, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood take places in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969, “at the height of hippy Hollywood.”
“The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor … Sharon Tate,” the official plot description reads.
In addition to A-Listers Pitt and DiCaprio, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also stars Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, Al Pacino, Emile Hirsch, Damian Lewis, Bruce Dern, Dakota Fanning, Scoot McNairy, Luke Perry, Lena Dunham, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, and James Marsden.
DiCaprio — starring in his first film since his Academy Award-winning turn in the 2015 film The Revenant — reportedly took a pay cut in order to collaborate with Tarantino again, as the two had previously worked together on Django Unchained. Tarantino is also reteaming with Brad Pitt for the first time since 2007’s hit Inglorious Basterds.
At this time, the release date for the first trailer has yet to be announced. However, given that the film’s premiere is just over three months away, fans should expect that first-look trailer sooner rather than later.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Tarantino’s ninth (and reportedly second-to-last) feature film, will be released in theaters on Friday, July 26, 2019.
