UFC star Conor McGregor has been arrested in Miami, according to a report from the Miami Herald. The incident leading to McGregor’s arrest took place outside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel when a fan approached him for a photo. The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. as he was leaving the resort which is home to the popular nightclub LIV.
According to the report, McGregor slapped the phone out of the fan’s hand and repeatedly stomped on it. McGregor then picked up the phone and walked away with it.
The incident was reportedly caught on camera.
“The defendant slapped the victim’s phone out of his hand, causing it to fall to the floor. The defendant then stomped on the victim’s phone several times, damaging it,” the police report reads.
The phone was valued at $1,000.
McGregor was not immediately arrested but was picked up later in the day and charged with charged with felony strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The Irishman was booked into a Miami-Dade jail on Monday night.
Just a year ago, McGregor was arrested on two felony charges in Brooklyn, New York for an incident at the Barclays Center where he through a hand truck through a window of a bus carrying other fighters, including rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. He reached a settlement in that case and was sentenced to three days of anger management courses and five days of community service.
