Stanford Employee James Shirvell Arrested On Attempted Murder Charge After LSD Trip

James Shirvell, an assistant director of admissions at Stanford University, is in trouble with the law. According to local reports, Shirvell has been arrested on an attempted murder charge in is what is believed to be a drug-fueled attack.

NBC Bay Area reports that Shirvell was allegedly experimenting with LSD before stabbing a woman multiple times. He was ultimately booked into San Francisco County Jail.

Police believe the woman was also on the hallucinogenic drug.

Shirvell faces charges of attempted murder, domestic violence, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Per the report:

Shirvell and the victim, sources say, were at a house on Potrero Hill over the weekend when the attack happened. Shirvell is one of half a dozen assistant directors of admission at Stanford, where he oversees admissions from Los Angeles, China, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Shirvell previously attended Yale, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“We are continuing to gather information on this matter to inform next steps,” University spokesperson E.J. Miranda said in a statement. Miranda added Shirvell “has been placed on leave and will not be coming to campus or performing any admissions work.”

Shirvell is no longer listed on the Stanford Admission page.
