Golf is a gentleman’s game, sometimes. At a South African golf tournament at Lake Club Benoni, a brawl broke out after there were allegations of cheating from two rivals. The one golfer accused a man named Mike of cheating afterward when all hell broke loose near the bar.
“You’re a thief, man. You’re a cheat!” you can hear being yelled in the video.
Then, you can see one man head-butt his rival through a window before swinging for the fences and throwing repeated bombs.
Thanks to the internet, we can all get to watch the chaos between Mike and his rival.
The golf club took to social media to apologize for the viral scene.
“On behalf of Lake Club we duly apologize for the unfortunate situation that happened during our Club championship prize giving yesterday,” a post on Facebook read. “Please note that we do not accept nor condone any such behavior as we have obligation to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all our members and guests. It is very unfortunate that the video has gone viral as this is a once off incident and is not indicative of the fellowship we have at our club.
“Urgent meetings to discuss the way forward have already taken place and we can assure you that the situation will be dealt with both fairly and promptly. We request your patience in the meanwhile. We will ensure that a communication will follow once the relevant Sanctions have been imposed.”
Unfortunately for Mike’s rival, it looks like the golf match was not the only L he took on the day.
