While the phrases “life-saving” and “Taco Bell” seem like they should never exist in the same sentence, because it’s 2019, literally anything is possible … including packets of hot sauce from a fast food Mexican restaurant chain saving the lives of some bro and his best friend.
According to reports, Oregon man Jeremy Taylor and his dog Ally found themselves stranded in his Toyota 4Runner for five days after getting stuck off-road on Forest Service Road 40, near Wake Butte, Oregon.
In a report from WTHR, the 36-year-old Taylor — who went missing on Sunday, February 25 — wanted to take his Toyota 4Runner off-roading in Sunriver, Oregon. However, on his way to the trail, Taylor’s Toyota got stuck, forcing Taylor to spend the night in his car.
The following morning, Taylor discovered that the snow had only gotten worse, forcing him to remain in his car. While Taylor attempted to walk out to safety, the snow was too deep.
Sargent William Bailey of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said that over the next four days, Taylor and his dog stayed warm over the next four days by periodically starting the vehicle and using packets of Taco Bell hot sauce as sustenance.
In a statement on Facebook, Taylor said that he and Ally were “lucky” and that they appreciate all the help.
“Thank you everyone, I’m safe my Ally dog is safe. I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets never do that again. I’ll be in touch with everyone soon,” Taylor wrote.
And of course, Taco Bell also released a statement, saying that they would be sending him a care package.
“We’re very glad Jeremy and (his dog) Ally are okay. We know our sauce packets are amazing, but this takes it to a whole new level. We’re in touch with Jeremy and getting him some well-deserved tacos and a care package,” a Taco Bell rep said.
