Reports indicate that deputies are responding to an “active shooter situation” on United Drive in Huger, South Carolina. The situation is currently unfolding at the 1800 block of United Drive.
The Huger Police Department have asked civilians to remain in their homes. The area of the shooting has been closed off by authorities.
Some reports indicate that officers are “pinned back” by gunfire and that the suspect has a semi-automatic rifle.
Witnesses reported seeing “dozens” of police vehicles heading towards the scene. The Goose Creek Swat Team and the Mount Pleasant Police Department are also on the scene.
At this time, there is no official word on the number of injuries or casualties.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Twitter saying that “shots have been fired.”
“BCSO is currently on scene of United Drive in Huger for an incident where shots have been fired. United Drive is currently closed to the public. Media staging will be the corner of United Drive and SC 41. Media MUST have proper credentials,” the statement on Twitter read.
Police officials will be holding a press conference in the coming hours to brief the public on the situation.
