President Donald Trump, like the NFL world, appeared surprised by charges handed down to his good friend, donor, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Kraft was charged with two counts of solicitation of prostitution in Florida on Friday, February 22 by Jupiter Police.

When speaking to the White House pool reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, President Trump said that he was surprised by the charges and that it is a “very sad” situation.

However, the president was quick to point out that Kraft has denied the allegations against him.

“Surprised to see it. He has denied it,” Trump reportedly told reporters.

Kraft’s spokesperson issued a statement denying the allegations shortly after they surfaced.

“We categorically deny that Mr. Kraft engaged in any illegal activity,” the statement from Kraft’s spokesperson read. “Because it is a judicial matter, we will not be commenting further.”

Jupiter Police Chief Daniel Kerr confirmed that the 77-year-old NFL owner will be charged with “soliciting another to commit prostitution” related to a sting at a Florida spa. Kerr added that Kraft was reportedly captured involved in sex acts at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa via video evidence. He had been in Florida for a fundraiser for the Dana-Farber Institute. The charges are misdemeanors.

Kraft was reportedly driven to the spa by a chauffeur, where the average cost per visit for services is $59 or $79 per hour.

According to Kerr, they are fearful that the women could be victims of human trafficking.

“Our concern in this investigation centers around the possibility of victims of human trafficking,” Kerr stated at his press conference on Friday.

Kraft, 77-years-old, is the owner of the New England Patriots, the New England Revolution in MLS, and Gillette Stadium in Massachusettes. His New England Patriots recently won their 6th Super Bowl title in 18 years after defeating the Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, and the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 13-3.
