Legendary Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim Hit & Killed A Pedestrian

According to the Onondaga County District Attorney, legendary Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim struck and killed a pedestrian outside his vehicle while driving on I-690.

District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick confirmed Boeheim is cooperating with police as they investigate the incident.

In a statement, Fitzpatrick said that the victim Boeheim struck was “was already outside his vehicle, after being involved in an unrelated, single-car crash in the midst of bad weather”, according to local news outlet WIVB 4.

Furthermore, Fitzpatrick said that Boeheim — who was driving at an “appropriate speed” was passing by the single-car crash after it had already occurred.

In addition to the victim, there were three other people in the car that was involved in the original single-car accident. The victim has not been identified at the time of this writing.

Police say that the accident occurred not long after the Syracuse Orange’s 20 point victory over the #18 ranked Louisville Cardinals at the Carrier Dome.

Boeheim, who is 74-years-old, is currently in his 43rd season as head basketball coach of the Syracuse Orange. At the time of this writing, the Orange currently sit 18-9 on the season with a 9-4 record in ACC conference play.
