James Schmidt, a softball coach for the Cy-Fair Texas Sting, is a wanted man after he allegedly attacked a grandmother in an incident caught on video. 60-year-old Donna Edwards detailed the situation where she was knocked to the ground.

“He body slammed me,” she told the Houston Chronicle. “He just charged at me like a football player and he was going for my phone.

“I have bruises all over me. I have a big old giant hematoma on my leg and my whole neck and back are tingling and my head is throbbing. I need someone to help me with these medical bills because this is bad. I have been to two emergency rooms already.”

Edwards says she was recording a tournament game after a player began cursing loudly.

That is when Schmidt “charged like a bull” and knocked her to the ground. Schmidt is wanted on class A assault charges and has also been fired as the Cy-Fair Texas Sting coach. The warrant was filed by the Harris County Constable Precinct.

“Cy-Fair Texas Sting strives to promote honesty, integrity, trustworthiness and accountability in coaches, players and parents,” coach Pat Bergin said a statement to KTRK . “We require the highest levels of good sportsmanship at all times.”

You can see video of the altercation below.

Edwards was happy to learn the news that Schmidt has been relieved of his duties.

“Hallelujah! That’s all I can say because that guy has absolutely no business being around kids,” she said.

Unfortunately, however, Edwards’ granddaughter has decided to leave her team after spending three years on the roster as a result of the incident.
