YNW Melly, a rising Florida rapper, is now behind bars after his arrest in connection to a double-murder. The 19-year-old rapper, who was born Jamell Maurice Demons, turned himself into Miramar police in connection to the 2018 shootings of Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr., two aspiring rappers who were described as close friends of the rapper.

YNW Melly, best known for his song “Murder on my Mind,” reportedly shot the victims multiple times and then had assistance setting the scene up to look like a drive-by shooting.

Cortlen Henry, 20, was also arrested on two first-degree murder charges, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Before turning himself into authorities, Melly took to social media to imply that he was being falsely accused of the murder.

“I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want to find justice,” he wrote, “unfortunately a lot of rumors and lies are being said but no worries god is with me and my brother @ynw.bortlen and we want y’all to remember it’s a ynw Family.”

He had previously mourned their deaths on social media after news of their deaths first surfaced in October 2018.

Williams and Thomas were pronounced dead at the emergency room entrance of Memorial Hospital Miramar in the wee hours of the morning on October 26, 2018.
