The Miami Police Department bomb squad is currently investigating what is being called “a suspicious item” that was found near the downtown Wells Fargo building.
While police inspect the item, the area around the Wells Fargo building — which is located at 33 SE 2nd Avenue in Downtown Miami — has been taped off.
The Miami Police Department bomb squad responded to the scene to inspect the suspicious package.
According to CBS Miami, “several” offices have been evacuated while the police conduct their inspection of the item.
Twitter user James Van Fleet posted a video to Twitter that showed “tons of” sirens, firetrucks, and helicopters in Downtown Miami.
Additionally, the official Twitter account for the Miami Police Department tweeted asking civilians to “please avoid the area between SE 2nd Avenue (Brickell Avenue) & 3rd Avenue between 3rd & 5th Street as officers investigate a possible suspicious package in the area.”
