Elizabeth Banks — born on February 10, 1974, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts — is an American actress who is perhaps best known for her roles in the Hollywood franchises The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect.
Growing up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Banks graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1992 before going on to attend the University of Pennsylvania. While the University of Pennsylvania, Banks was Delta Delta Delta Sorority and eventually graduated with a degree in communications and a minor in theater arts in 1996.
Following her graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, Banks received an MFA degree from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco in 1998.
The same year she graduated from the American Conservatory Theater, Banks made her professional acting debut in the TV series Keep Going Safety and the movie Surrender Dorothy. Then, in 2001, Banks had her biggest role to date when she was cast in Wet Hot American Summer.
In 2002, Banks joined the Spider-Man franchise (also appearing in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3) and in the year 2005, Banks began to break into the mainstream, as she appeared in the legendary 2005 comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
After her star turn in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Banks went on to star as the lead female in movies such as Invincible, Fred Claus, Definitely, Maybe, Meet Dave, W., Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and Role Models.
In the year 2012, Banks’ career took another leap forward when she was cast as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games.
Since appearing in The Hunger Games, Banks has gone on to become one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, going on to star in movies such as Pitch Perfect, The Lego Movie, Love & Mercy, Magic Mike XXXL, and Power Rangers.
