Dylan O’Brien was born on August 26th, 1991 in New York City, New York. O’Brien’s mother Lisa was a former actress who ran an acting school, his father Patrick was a camera operator. Dylan’s hometown is Springfield, New Jersey. I being a native Jersey girl myself fangirled, even more, when I found out about this. At twelve years old O’Brien’s family moved from New Jersey to Hermosa Beach, California.

Dylan always had a passion for sports, mainly baseball having still to this day being an avid New York Mets fan. When he finished high school at Mira Costa in 2009 he had decided to go to college for sportscasting and possibly live out his dream of working for the Mets one day. But luck struck him when his old Youtube channel Dylan started at the age of fourteen was discovered by a local producer and director.

Following O’Brien’s Youtube discovery, he was asked to work on a web short series. This is where Dylan met an actor who helped him get in contact with a manager. O’Brien’s dream of majoring in sportscasting at Syracuse University was going to have to wait! He was on the road to fame!

Dylan O’Brien’s very first television audition was for a brand new MTV show that would be titled, Teen Wolf. This television adaption would be loosely based on the eighties horror comedy movie starring Micheal J. Foxx. Although Dylan originally was going to read for Scott McCall, once he read Stiles’ Stilinski’s character in the script he was hooked!

After a total of four auditions, Dylan O’Brien was cast as Stiles Stilinski in 2010. This show is where he met his best friend on and off screen Tyler Posey. Who was cast as Scott McCall, the two instantly hit it off in the waiting room before the audition even began. They were a bromance made in heaven almost instantly! Following the conclusions of Teen Wolf’s six seasons in 2016, Dylan had already become the hot commodity in the entertainment industry.

During the hiatus of the hit show in 2012, Dylan starred alongside his now longtime girlfriend Brit Robertson in the indie rom-com The First Time. A story about how two teenagers fell in love with one another in the short span of only three days. The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival and was released later that year in the movies.

In 2013 O’Brien snagged a small role in the blockbuster comedy The Internship. Dylan starred alongside big name actors such as Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. Following this role, he landed the lead role in the on-screen adaption of the sci-fi trilogy book series The MazeRunner. This movie managed to open up number one in the box office it’s very first week, making it the fourth highest grossing book to film adaption since Harry Potter and the Twilight Saga.

Tragedy nearly struck the set of the third and final MazeRunner movie in 2016 when Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured on set while doing one of his stunts. O’Brien was strapped to a harness on top of one of the movie vehicles when he was pulled off the vehicle unexpectedly and hit by another. His injuries included a concussion, facial fractions, and lacerations just to name a few. O’Brien’s girlfriend Brit Robertson and well as his family and friends helped Dylan get back on his feet after the life-threatening ordeal.

Following O’Brien’s recovery, he was cast as the lead in the thriller/action movie American Assassin. He starred alongside Michael Keaton and Taylor Kitch as a revengeful vigilante Mitch Rapp whose girlfriend was murdered in a terrorist attack on the beach. Mitch takes matters into his own hands and sets out on a warpath to avenge his beloved. I can’t wait to see what this upcoming year has in store for this spectacular actor and silver screen stud Dylan O’Brien! I’m not the president of his fan club or anything..or am I?

2019

Moving on from his image as Thomas and Stiles, Dylan O’Brien has a movie (The education of Fredrick Fitzell) and a web-series (Weird City) coming up this year.
