Freida Pinto, born on October 18, 1984, in Mumbai, India, is an Indian actress who is best known for her appearance in the Academy Award-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire.
Pinto, who was born in Mumbai, attended the Carmel of St. Joseph School in Malad and then studied at St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai.
In 2005, Pinto’s modeling career began when she signed with Elite Model Management India. During her modeling career, Pinto was featured in advertisements for products such as Wrigley’s Chewing Gum, Škoda, Vodafone India, Airtel, Visa, eBay, and De Beers.
Her acting career began in 2006 when she appeared on the Indian game show Full Circle. Two years later, in 2008, Pinto made her feature film debut when she was cast as Lakita in the Academy Award-winning, Danny Boyle-directed film Slumdog Millionaire. Slumdog Millionaire went on to win Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2009 Academy Awards.
Pinto’s acting career took off in earnest following her appearance in Slumdog Millionaire, appearing in the Woody Allen film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, Immorts, Girl Rising, Desert Dancer, Knight of Cups, Unity, Blunt Force Trauma, and Love Sonia. She has also appeared on various TV shows such as Full Circle, The Mindy Project, Guerrilla, and the Hulu series The Path.
In 2018, Pinto starred as Messua in the Netflix film Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. In 2019, Pinto will star in the John Ridley-directed film Needle in a Timestack.
