Kevin Douglas Limbaugh, a 48-year-old convict from Davis, California, has been identified as the man who shot and killed 22-year-old rookie police officer Natalie Corona on Thursday, January 10 during a traffic stop. Limbaugh later took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

After killing himself, police found a typed letter in his apartment that showed severe paranoia.

“The Davis Police department has been hitting me with ultra sonic waves meant to keep dogs from barking,” the letter read, via the San Francisco Gate.

“I notified the press, internal affairs, and even the FBI about it. I am highly sensitive to its affect on my inner ear. I did my best to appease them, but they have continued for years and I can’t live this way anymore.”

Before shooting Natalie Corona, Limbaugh had been arrested on a felony charge of battery with serious bodily injury for punching a co-worker in the face.

Limbaugh served an eight-day jail sentence, was placed on probation, and ordered to turn over a semiautomatic rifle, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Corona was rushed to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento following the shooting but was unable to survive.

“Despite the lifesaving efforts that were provided by firefighters who were immediately adjacent because the primary fire station is right near where this happened, they weren’t able to save her,” Davis police Chief Darren Pytel said, via CNN.com.

She had just graduated from the police academy in July 2018.

Corona becomes the second rookie female officer to be shot and killed in two days. The prior day, Shreveport police officer Chateri Payne was shot at a home in Louisiana at the beginning of her shift.
