Erin Richards, born on May 17, 1984, in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, is a Welsh actress who is perhaps best known for playing Barbara Kean in the FOX television series Gotham. In addition to being recognized for her role in Gotham, Richards was known for portraying Molly Hughes in the FOX sitcom series Breaking In.
Prior to becoming a professional actress, Richards trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Before her television career really took off, Richards hosted the Welsh teen magazine show Mosgito on S4C and appeared in various short films such as Expiry Date, Abraham’s Point, 17, Balance, Will Sampson (…and the Self-Perpetuating Cycle of Unintended Abstinence)
Richard’s acting career took off in earnest when she was cast in BBC television series Crash and Being Human.
In 2012, following those roles, Richards was cast in the main cast in the short-lived FOX sitcom Breaking In.
After Breaking In, Richards had brief appearances in Merlin, Crossing Lines, and Misfits before being cast as Barbara Kean in the FOX television series Gotham, which explores the growth of Bruce Wayne into Batman.
On Gotham, Richards portrays Barbara Kean, the fiancée and eventual antagonist of series-lead James Gordon.
In addition to her roles in short films and television, Richards has appeared in a handful of feature-length films such as Open Grave, The Quiet Ones, and That Good Night.
