Kevin Fret, the first openly gay Latin Trapero from Puerto Rico, is dead at age 24. Reports surfaced on Thursday, January 12 that the influential star died after being shot eight times by unidentified assailants. News of his death shocked fans and began trending on social media platforms.
After his death, Fret’s Instagram account — which boasted more than 110,000 followers — was wiped clean of all posts.
The only thing remaining on Fret’s account was a message on his Instagram story which translates to: “Pray, relax, wait for my times and I will do the rest. -God.”

Kevin Fret Cause Of Death: Multiple gunshot wounds
According to Puerto Rican newspaper El Vocero, Fret was driving a motorboat in Santurce, the biggest and most populated district in San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, when he was surrounded by unidentified assailants. Fret suffered eight gunshot wounds in the attack. He was transported to the Medical Center in Río Piedras before dying from his injuries.

Fret was a growing icon in the LGBTQ+ community for breaking gender norms and stigma about being gay in Puerto Rico. The 24-year-old was the first openly gay Latin Trapero, coming out when he was 18 years old.
“I’m a person that doesn’t care what anybody has to say,” he said in an interview with Paper Magazine, according to Heavy.com. “[Now I see] young gay guys or young lesbians that are looking at me now like a role model, like wow, if he did it, and he don’t care what anybody else has to say, I can do it,” he told the publication.
