MacKenzie Bezos is the ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. The couple was married for 25 years before it was announced that the two were set to split. Jeff Bezos confirmed the surprising news in a statement on his official Twitter account.
“After a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends,” the statement read. “We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
Immediately after their split, people began to wonder just how much of the Amazon CEO’s fortune would go to his ex-wife.
Now we have our answer.
Because the couple is filing for divorce in Washington, a state where community property rules, MacKenzie is legally entitled to all earnings and income during their marriage 50/50. That means McKenzie is in line for half of Jeff’s $137 billion fortune. The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.
How much is MacKenzie worth today? Let’s take a look.
MacKenzie Bezos Net Worth: $67.5 Billion
MacKenzie Bezos has an estimated net worth of $67.5 billion following her divorce to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who was previously the richest man in the world according to Forbes’ latest rankings. Because of the new fortune that could be heading her way, MacKenzie will now be tied with her ex-husband as the 7th richest person in the world.
TMZ adds:
When the couple married in 1993 — 6 months after meeting — Jeff wasn’t even a millionaire. He didn’t become one until 1997, so dreams of being the richest man in the world were pie in the sky.
The division of assets will be incredibly complicated. Aside from cold hard cash, the former couple is hardcore baronial — they own 400,000 acres of property, making them 2 of the biggest landholders in the country. Valuing that land is complicated.
