William Brian Stillwell, a 39-year-old Florida man, has been arrested after he allegedly shot his wife and her parents after finding an “intimate” video of her and his best friend together.
What Happened?
Lt. Shawn Eising of the Melbourne Police Department said that Stillwell was arrested at his home on Chapparal Drive in Melbourne, Florida, on Tuesday, January 1, after allegedly shooting his wife, Mona Stillwell, and his in-laws. Additionally, the Melbourne Police Department said Stillwell’s two children were inside of the home at the time of the shooting. Both children — a boy and a girl who are five-year-old twins — were unharmed.
While all three victims were taken to a local hospital with injuries, they are all expected to survive.
Stillwell has been charged with three counts of attempted felony murder, two counts of child abuse, armed burglary and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Brevard County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail.
According to WFTV 9, Stillwell’s five-year-old twins could be heard in the 911 call begging Stillwell to stop shooting as he accused his wife Mona of cheating on him.
“No, daddy. No. I don’t want anyone to die,” one of the young children can be heard saying.

Police said Stillwell told detectives that he recently saw a video of his wife having sex with his best friend, telling police she was “a whore and he saw her cheating on him … with his best friend on a recorded video on her phone.”
Investigators said his wife and children had recently moved in with her parents after the couple separated last week. Neighbor Phil McMahon told WFTV 9 that the victims include a woman and her parents.
“I don’t know how the father got involved, but he got shot,” he said. “He came over to my house, told me to call 911. He got shot in the hip, was bleeding.”
McMahon said his wife’s friend had been having problems with her husband and was staying with her parents.
Additionally, Lt. Eising said Stillwell peacefully surrendered to officers after a “brief” standoff.
Mona Stillwell’s father has been released from a hospital, while Mona and her mother were scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday, January 3.
