Dr. Lara Kollab, 27-years-old, has been identified as the Cleveland, Ohio-based doctor who tweeted that she would “purposely give all the Jews the wrong meds.”
What Happened?
Dr. Lara Kollab, a 27-years-old doctor at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, was discovered to have been posting racist messages about Jewish people for years.
Following the discovery of her “wrong meds” tweet, it was found out that Dr. Kollab has been posting anti-Semitic messages on social media for “years.” In the past, Kollab has written that she hopes “Allah will kill the Jews” and referred to Jewish people as “dogs.”
The Cleveland Clinic, the hospital where Dr. Kollab was a former resident, has since confirmed that Dr. Kollab is no longer employed at the hospital.
“Cleveland Clinic was recently made aware of comments posted to social media by a former employee.
This individual was employed as a supervised resident at our hospital from July to September 2018. She is no longer working at Cleveland Clinic. In no way do these beliefs reflect those of our organization. We fully embrace diversity, inclusion and a culture of safety and respect across our entire health system.” the Cleveland Clinic said in a statement.
In January 2012, when Kollab was a medical student, she posted on social media saying she will “purposely give all the yahood [Jews] the wrong meds.” Additionally, later that year she said that the Holocaust had been “exaggerated.”
After a brief investigation, Times of Israel found that the 27-year-old Kollab had been making anti-Semitic comments on social media from 2011 to 2017.
A tweet from 2012, when she was a medical student, got a great deal of attention in the last couple of days on social media, where it was preserved in screen shot.
“hahha ewww.. ill purposely give all the yahood [Jews] the wrong meds…,” she tweeted in January 2012.
The controversial website Canary Mission, that hosts dossiers on pro-Palestinian student activists, professors, and organizations, focusing primarily on North American universities, published and linked to dozens of such tweets by Kollab.
As of Wednesday, January 2, Kollab’s social media accounts remain deleted.
Kollab’s medical license, which she received in July 2018, remains active at this time and will expire in June 2021.
