Former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones faces off against Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 232 at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Saturday, December 29 to close out a busy year for the mixed martial arts promotion on pay-per-view for the vacant 205-pound title.
Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson met at UFC 165 and put on a fight for the ages, as reported by ESPN as they battled for five breathless rounds in Toronto at UFC 165. By the time they were lined up for the judges’ scores, nobody was 100% sure of the winner. Eventually, it was Jones who took the unanimous decision as he retained his UFC light-heavyweight world title. But even though he held on to his title, there was no doubt that Gustafsson pushed him harder than any fighter before.
If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, the co-main event features a champion vs. champion match.
The two most dominant female mixed martial artists in the world, Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes, are set to square off in the co-main event for Cyborg’s UFC women’s featherweight championship.
Other bouts at UFC 232 — which takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas — include Carlos Condit vs. Michael Chiesa, Cat Zingano vs. Megan Anderson, BJ Penn vs. Ryan Hall, and Andrei Arlovski vs. Walt Harris. The preliminary card will air on UFC Fight Pass and FOX Sports 1.
