Donald Glover performed his final concert on the “This Is America” tour which will end the Childish Gambino era. Glover said before embarking on the tour that it would be his last under the Childish Gambino moniker and he held true to his word at the Forum in Los Angeles on Monday, December 17.
But before Glover ended the concert, he took a moment to share something with the crowd.
Glover recently lost his father and decided to honor him on stage before performing his song “Riot.” Glover was very emotional and nearly broke into tears as he was delivering his message about love and trust to the crowd.
“I lost my father a couple weeks ago,” Glover told the crowd in a video posted to reddit. “I wanted to play him some of the new songs, but he didn’t want to hear them because he was like, ‘I know they’ll be great.’ I’m not saying that to talk about music, I say that to talk about trust.
“That’s what love is. I hope you guys get to feel that kind of love and trust in your life. I really do. There’s nothing like it.”
It was a very vulnerable, honest moment from the man who has become one of the breakout entertainment stars in recent years.
Throughout his tour, Gambino also dropped two previously unreleased songs. While the titles are currently unknown, it is assumed that they will be on his upcoming project that will be his last as Gambino.
