Popeyes Emotional Support Chicken hopes to relieve stress during holiday travel

Popeyes Chicken

Popeyes Chicken has the perfect answer for people looking to limit stress during the holiday season. While airlines across the country are upping their restrictions on emotional support animals — thanks, you weirdos who think you can travel with peacocks — Popeyes is offering a special “Emotional Support Chicken” meal. The launch of the new promo comes on the day that Delta Air Line’s ban of service and emotional support animals under four months old on flights kicks into effect.

Emotional support animals of any kind will be banned from flights longer than eight hours beginning February 1, 2019.

But not the “Emotional Support Chicken” from Popeyes.

The special offer will only be available at the Popeyes in the Philadelphia International Airport in Terminal C beginning Tuesday, December 18.

The meal does come with a warning, however.

“This chicken provides comfort and nourishment during stressful air travel,” a disclaimer on the box reads. “Unlike other chicken, it is marinated in real Louisiana spices for 12 hours and must be permitted to fly without restriction. Do not leave unattended, as Popeyes is not responsible for lost or stolen chicken.”

Brilliant.

Popeyes launched the campaign as “a gesture designed to bring holiday travelers some needed humor,” according to a press release.

The combo is a limited-time offer and includes three pieces of tenders, fries and a biscuit for $8.49 — yeah, yeah, we know; it is just your standard three-piece chicken tender meal. But you get the hilarious chicken-shaped box which can hopefully bring you a laugh while you’re dealing with the hustle and bustle of the holiday travel.

Happy holidays, everyone, and be sure to grab some “Emotional Support Chicken” if you find yourself at the Philadelphia International Airport over the next couple of weeks.
