This year has brought a lot of surprises, and we’ve enjoyed all the music that came with 2018. Many artists released albums that people have thoroughly enjoyed, from The Carters (Beyonce and Jay-Z) to Panic! at the Disco. No matter the genre, everyone was satisfied with the outpouring of music. Now with the year coming to an end, we look forward to 2019 and what new music it will bring.
Backstreet Boys: DNA
The Backstreet Boys is a name everyone associates with 90s music. Now they will be releasing their ninth studio album in 2019, DNA. It’s been four years since their previous record, In a World Like This and fans are ready for this new one. Fans have already had a taste of what to expect with the singles, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and “Chances.” The album is made to represent the Backstreet Boys as individuals as well as how they bring those parts together to create their group.
They also plan to go on tour in May, the DNA World tour. For details on their tour check out the Backstreet Boys website. DNA will be released January 25, 2019.
Lana Del Rey: Norman F*cking Rockwell
Lana Del Rey will also be releasing her sixth studio album in 2019, Norman F*cking Rockwell. In September, Lana confirmed the album title as well as the number of tracks on the album, 11. This album is the first time that Del Rey has collaborated with Jack Antonoff. He is a Grammy award-winning musician, singer, and songwriter who had worked with musicians such as Taylor Swift, Lorde, Fun, P!nk and more. Del Rey has released two singles in preparation for the album release, “Mariners Apartment Complex” and “Venice B*tch.” Norman F*cking Rockwell does not have an official release date, but Lana Del Rey does plan to release it in 2019.
Bring Me the Horizon: amo
Bring Me the Horizon will also be releasing an album next year. Amo will be the sixth album of the British rock group. The band has stated to Kerrang! that the album will be “weird” “free” and “mental.” The lead single for the upcoming album is “Mantra.” Fans will be able to see that the electronic and pop-rock elements are similar to their previous album. While the band states it is different they did want to keep some of their earlier influences into this album. “Amo” is the Spanish word for love.
Amo will be released January 25, 2019.
The Weeknd
In March of 2018, The Weeknd released an EP that had six tracks. Many fans raved over it as the EP went back to the artist’s roots that helped to make him famous. With dark and brooding lyrics, fans wondered if this same style would be reflected in The Weeknd’s next full album Chapter 6. The Canadian soloist has hinted at his new album on Instagram and fans cannot wait to hear what he has in store. With promotion for the record being promoted on his social media, we speculate that his album will be released in 2019.
Adele
It has been four years since Adele’s last album 25 hit the music scene. Now, the global star has been on the writing track and in June of 2018 met up with some music bosses to plan her recording sessions for her upcoming album. According to the Sun, Adele hopes to release the album in late 2019, near the Christmas season. She has already penned quite a few tracks for the record, but only time will tell when we’ll be able to hear the songs she has planned.
Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen has been a busy man. He has been performing his highly acclaimed one-person Broadway show for over a year, but he plans to get back into the music scene soon. He has an album and tour scheduled for next year. Springsteen claims that this new album is more of a solo-record and that he’s excited to go on the road with his longtime band, E Street. Springsteen has not released a record since 2014 with High Hopes. Now fans will be able to indulge in new music in 2019. There is no official release date, but Bruce Springsteen assures fans that new music is coming.
Weezer: Weezer (The Black Album)
Weezer will be releasing their twelfth studio record Weezer (The Black Album) in 2019. It is set to be a follow up to the band’s previous album Weezer (The White Album). The newest record is set to contrast the previous both lyrically and musically. While The Black Album has faced delay due to another record the band produced, it is now in full swing, and the band will release this highly anticipated album on March 1, 2019. Fans can have a listen to the lead single off the album, “Can’t Knock the Hustle.”
The 1975: Notes On A Conditional Form
The 1975 is an English indie pop-rock group. The band has had a good year with their release of A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, their latest album. Though they have just released an album this year, the band also plans to release another, Notes on a Conditional Form. It is part of their “Music for Cars” era that has fans excited. While there is no official release date yet, the band plans to release the album in May of 2019. Until then, fans have A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships to hold them over until then.
Avril Lavigne: Head Above Water
Avril Lavigne has been a having a rough couple of years, but she’s only emerged stronger from it. In 2014, she was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lavigne had ‘sung past the pain,’ and the songs on the album were inspired from that time. She released the lead single for the album which bears the same name, “Head Above Water.” Most of the album as recorded as she sat on a couch due to her disease, but it will still be a triumphant album none the less. Fans have supported her through these times, and we look forward to hearing what music comes from it. There is no official release date, but Avril Lavigne does plan for this album to release in 2019.
Sara Bareilles
Sara Bareilles is getting ready to release her sixth studio album in 2019. Bareilles has kept the record under lock and key. She only reveals bits and pieces on interviews. The singer-songwriter also teases her fans about it on Twitter and in October released the first single for the album, “Armor.” With the release of the single, pre-orders were also available for the upcoming album. According to Hiddenjams, Bareilles’s new album will touch on some political topics and will also be about the love she has for her significant other. It’s been five years since The Blessed Unrest was released and fans can’t wait to hear new music from this talented artist. There is no official release date, but Bareilles does plan for the album to release in early 2019.
