Prosecutors have dropped assault charges against Kathryn A. Mahoney, a 19-year-old college student at Connecticut’s Fairfield University who was accused of assaulting her boyfriend.
According to reports, Mahoney allegedly struck her boyfriend — swimmer and rugby player Ben Kebbell — in her dorm at Fairfield University on March 1, 2018. Mahoney allegedly punched Kebbell in the stomach before punching him in the face with a closed fist.
Furthermore, the victim said he grabbed her (Mahoney) by the shoulders to get her to stop and then ran to a friend’s dorm room for help.
Following the attack, the victim reportedly took himself to St. Vincent hospital for a swollen and bloody nose.
However, nearly a year later in December 2018, the charges against Mahoney were dropped.

The attorney for Kathryn Mahoney told DailyMail.com that prosecutors in Connecticut are not going forward with their case against her.
She was accused of punching swimmer and rugby player Ben Kebbell in her dorm at Fairfield University on March 1, 2018. Her attorney Frank Riccio II told DailyMail.com: “All criminal charges against Kathryn Mahoney were dismissed after a motion was filed with the Court.”
“That request was granted after the Court considered all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the matter.”
“Now that all charges have been dismissed, she will continue her collegiate studies which have placed her in the top of her class. Her future is extremely bright!”
Mahoney, a student at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, was originally charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. She was held on a $1,500 bond and was arraigned in state Superior Court in Bridgeport March 2.
