UFC 231 medical suspensions have been handed out by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the regulating body that looked over the pay-per-view at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, December 8. Receiving one of the lengthiest suspensions was predictably main event participant and featherweight title contender Brian Ortega, who suffered a four-round beating at the hands of current champion Max Holloway before the doctors had to intervene and stop the fight.
Ortega, along with preliminary card fighter Chad Laprise, has been suspended 180 days or until medically cleared.
That means it could be at least six months until we see Ortega look to bounce back from the first loss of his professional mixed martial arts career.
A number of other fighters who participated at the event were suspended between 14 and 30 days, including Holloway, who cemented his spot as arguably the best 145-pound fighter in UFC history.
